The Sociology Department is shocked and deeply saddened by the death of Jo Cox (née Leadbeater). Jo studied Social and Political Sciences, graduating in 1995. In 2015 she became MP for Batley and Spen. Jo campaigned for Syrian refugees, and she acted as an advisor for a variety of organisations including the anti-slavery group The Freedom Fund and Save the Children.

Our thoughts are with Jo's family at this difficult time.
