Cambridge University Libraries
Studying at Cambridge gives access to one of the world’s largest university collections, dispersed across a range of libraries.
This includes your own College library and the subject-specific holdings for Sociology in the Seeley Library. You might also find useful materials in the Haddon Library and the main University Library (UL). You can work at and borrow from most Department and Faculty libraries and the UL, but do check first. College libraries tend to be open to College members only.
The Library Essentials Guide covers everything you need to know about the Cambridge University Libraries including the different types on offer, iDiscover (the online search tool for library resources), and how to borrow books.
The Sociology LibGuide provides an overview of the many specialist and print resources for the subject.
Study spaces
You can use Spacefinder to search for a place to study across the hundreds of libraries, cafes and classrooms in Cambridge, filtering by facilities, noise level and atmosphere.
Sociology library skills
Undergraduate training and subject specific support for Sociology is provided by Helen Grieve from the Seeley Library. Postgraduate training is provided by George Cronin from the Haddon Library.
