Travel Tips
Cambridge is around 50 minutes by train from London King's Cross station using the non-stop 'Cambridge Express' service (which runs twice an hour). Trains from London Liverpool Street station take slightly longer. The Eurostar service from Paris takes just over two hours and arrives into central London at St Pancras International station, which is just across the road from King's Cross and the direct train service to Cambridge.
The Sociology Department is a ten-minute taxi ride from the rail station and taxis can be found outside the station entrance.
Alternatively, visitors can use the Universal (U) bus service that runs regularly from the bus stops to the left on the opposite side of the road, on departing the station, and alighting at Pembroke Street. A £2 flat fare applies and University card holders pay just £1 for a single journey. Unlimited travel costs £3 a day and £10 a week. All tickets are available from the driver (cash only).

From the south, leave the M11 at Junction 11. This exit road will eventually become Trumpington Street. Turn right onto Pembroke Street. The Sociology Department can be found on the first left turn, through the pedestrian archway on the right two thirds of the way down Free School Lane.
From the north, leave the A1 at the A14 (Junction 14). Continue on the M11, and exit at Junction 12 onto the A603. Follow the A603 into Cambridge, and at the roundabout at Newnham Road, take the 2nd exit onto the A1134 (Fen Causeway), then at the next roundabout take the first exit on Trumpington St. Turn right onto Pembroke Street. Take the first left turn onto Free School Lane. The Sociology Department is located through the pedestrian archway on the right two thirds of the way down Free School Lane.
There is no parking available on site (though arrangements can be made for people with reduced mobility, please contact enquiries@sociology.cam.ac.uk), so you may prefer to park at the Grand Arcade shopping centre's car park. If you are staying for longer than a few hours, we recommend that you use one of Cambridge's five Park and Ride sites, where a bus takes you from a site on the outskirts of Cambridge to the city centre bus station, which is less than 10 minutes' walk from the Department.
Regular National Express coach services link Cambridge to London, Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick.
