Study our constantly changing world

Sociology is taught as part of a unique interdisciplinary degree. This three-year undergraduate course in Human, Social and Political Sciences (HSPS) is only offered at the University of Cambridge.

The HSPS course – or tripos – is a flexible degree that can be customised according to your interests. It offers a broad introduction to the social sciences as well as the opportunity to study Sociology in depth.

HSPS students approach the global challenges of our rapidly changing world through a broad range of subjects. Beyond Sociology, the course spans Politics and International Relations, Social Anthropology, and more.

What is the HSPS course structure?

Our HSPS Tripos will develop your:

  • analytical and critical skills
  • intellectual versatility
  • multicultural sensitivity
  • argument and debate
  • writing on complex issues
  • analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
