590x288 Ranking 2018

Applying to Cambridge may seem like an overwhelming experience, but by following the steps below, we hope to make this experience much easier.

How do I apply to study Sociology?

Are you looking to study Sociology at Cambridge, but can't find the subject listed in UCAS?!

When applying for a degree in Sociology, you need to apply to the HSPS Tripos (Human, Social, and Political Sciences). HSPS houses 3 departments: Department of Sociology, Department of Social Anthropology and Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS).

Each of these departments has a worldwide reputation for teaching and research. The undergraduate curriculum is designed to serve students who have a clear disciplinary commitment at the time of application, as well as those who want a broader multidisciplinary degree.

Undergraduate students study several disciplines in their first year and then specialise in one (i.e. Sociology) or two (i.e. Sociology with Social Anthropology or Sociology with Politics) in their second and third years.
