Biography

Aihong Li obtained her PhD in Sociology in Feb 2023. Her PhD project investigates the influence of internal migration on family life; the research outputs have been published on Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies and Ageing & Society. Before doing her PhD in Cambridge, she received systematic training in Sociology Department at Xi'an Jiaotong University (BA, MA) and in the Social Statistics at the University of Manchester (MSc).

As a PhD in Sociology, she is broadly interested in social stratification and mobility, social integration, family and work, life course studies, (in)equality and well-being, and modernity and identity. Currently, she is working on three research projects: financial inclusion, gender (in)equality, and subjective wellbeing; employment history and later life outcomes; informal employment of highly educated mothers.

Aihong is broadly interested in social stratification and mobility, migration and social integration, labour market and employment, lifecourse studies, (in)equality and well-being, financial inclusion, and modernity and identity.
