Felipe Araneda Ávila (2023)

Biography

Felipe is a PhD student at the Department of Sociology, University of Cambridge. He holds an MSc in Economy, Risk and Society at the London School of Economics (LSE) and BA in Sociology at Universidad Alberto Hurtado. His work focuses on the intersections between digital media, STS and political ecology. More specifically, his study aims to understand how digital restoration platforms are transforming the materialities, practices and governance of conservation initiatives in the Chilean Patagonia. By doing that, his work seeks to give some insights about how new forms of neoliberal conservation are consolidated and what consequences emerge for natural ecosystems and human actors.
