Department of Sociology

Welcome to Cambridge!

Have you been accepted into Cambridge? Why not connect with us before you arrive to help you prepare for the exciting journey ahead?!

Yesterday was A-Level results day and students all around the country are celebrating. Whatever grade you have attained, congratulations- this is a great achievement!

Here in the Sociology Department, we look forward to receiving first year students on the HSPS course. Starting University is both exciting and nerve-racking. The start of term is still a while away, but there are many ways you can connect with us before you begin your course and we encourage you to get in touch.

1. Connect with your College-

If you have any questions about life at Cambridge and want to find out more about where you will be living, send your College Admissions Tutor an email and they will be able to point you in the right direction.

2. Drop us a Tweet-

Studying HSPS? Why not drop us a Tweet and say hi? Follow us at @CamSociology and introduce yourself. If you’ve got a question, the likelihood is that someone else will have the same one- ask away and you might even find yourself a course-mate before you start!

3. Ask a student-

In early September, we will be running an online Q&A session with staff and students available to answer your questions about studying Sociology and life at Cambridge - follow us on Twitter or check back on our website for an exact date and time.

4. Check out our website-

There is lots of useful information on our website, which will hopefully help answer many of your questions. Find out more on online:

6. Watch a vlog/video

There are a number of videos and vlogs on YouTube which are worth a watch for more information about life at Cambridge. Our top channels include CambridgeUniversity and our fabulous Sociology students - IbzMo and Courtney Daniella

7. Read the Guidebook

Written by students, for students- why not read our course guidebook to find out more about what to expect from your undergraduate course.

8. Check out the reading list

Want to get ahead with the course readings? We have some recommended readings that would be useful to delve into before you begin

Now, relax and enjoy the rest of your summer and we look forward to seeing you in October!
