Congratulations to the Reproductive Sociology Research Group for having secured a £1.4M Wellcome Collaborative Award for a new project on 'Changing In/Fertilities' in partnership with Dr Marcia Inhorn at Yale and a network of 16 research partners around the globe.
The new project will investigate not only how perceptions of fertility and infertility are changing, but how these altered perceptions are driving new behavioural norms. In addition to investigating new forms of fertility precarity, and in/fertility stratifications, the new project looks at changing LGBTQ fertility practices, the relationship between race and reproduction, reproduction and migrant communities, and the ways infertility treatment is feeding back into basic science. Our three year project will provide the first systematic and comparative overview of Changing In/Fertilities and a primary goal of the project is to develop a general sociological theory of contemporary fertility change.
