Dr Marcus Morgan is awarded the post of Lecturer at the University of Bristol.

mmorganCongratulations to Dr Marcus Morgan for being awarded the position of Lecturer at the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies at the University of Bristol.

Dr Morgan joined the Department of Sociology at Cambridge University in June, 2013 and is currently a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow here. Marcus is also Fellow and College Lecturer at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge, and his current research, which is match funded by the Isaac Newton Trust, is interested in the Black Consciousness Movement in apartheid South Africa. Marcus lectures on the ‘Advanced Social Theory’ paper and on the MPhil in Sociology (Sociology of Media and Culture). Furthermore, he is the Review Editor of the International Journal of Politics, Culture and Society.

Before joining the department, Marcus spent a year teaching research methods at University College London, whilst also researching an investigative documentary for The Guardian newspaper. He completed a PhD in Sociology and MA in Social Research at Goldsmiths, University of London, and also holds an MSc in Development Studies and BSc in Sociology, both from the London School of Economics.

Marcus’s key publications include Pragmatic Humanism: On the Nature and Value of Sociological Knowledge (2016), and Conflict in the Academy: A Study in the Sociology of Intellectuals (2015).

Dr Morgan will commence his new post at the University of Bristol in September, 2017 - congratulations once again!
