Congratulations to Merve Sancak, a PhD candidate from the department, who has won The Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development. The award identifies and funds outstanding research proposals in developing and transition countries that have a high potential for excellence in research and policy implications for addressing development issues.

Merve’s research is on the functioning of the vocational education and training systems and other institutions in Mexico and Turkey and their influence on Mexican and Turkish auto parts suppliers' strategies to find skilled workers.

The award will support Merve’s ongoing research and includes $22,500 to use towards her research.

A big well done from all of us here in the department!
