Katie Gaddini

Biography

Katie Gaddini is a doctoral candidate specialising in the sociology of religion, women and gender studies, and political sociological. She undertook an ethnography of unmarried evangelical women in London to understand how their embodied practices relate to secularism, their religious beliefs, and their gendered identities. Katie also works as a research assistant with Dr. Manali Desai on a 2-year internally funded research project titled Infrastructures of Gendered Violence, focused on gendered violence in South Asia. In addition, she supervises undergraduates on topics related to gender, the media, and the body.

 

Katie holds a MSc in Gender Studies from the London School of Economics, and a Master's of Social Work from Boston College. Prior to starting her PhD, Katie worked as an international social worker specialising in the prevention of gender-based violence in Spain, Peru, South Africa and the United States.
