Jess Miller

Dr Jessica (Jess) Miller is alumni from the Department of Sociology, graduating with an MPhil in Social and Political Science in 2001 before going on to cover the Director of Studies role at Lucy Cavendish College in 2003 and supervising undergraduate students in psychology. After working in Critical Incident Personal Support, Preventing Violent Extremism and researching combat and police-related trauma and genetics for her PhD at Bournemouth University, she is delighted to be back with the department and is also employed by the Police Dependants' Trust. She has a keen interest in practicing self-directed neuroplasticity and mindfulness techniques and feels very lucky to be able to do this among the hills and valleys of Dorset where she lives. Jess wants nothing more than to apply what she has learnt about herself and trauma to those whose work requires them to manage trauma with skill and resilience everyday.
