Department of Sociology

Congratulations to Dr Mwenza Blell- nominated for Postgraduate Supervisor in the CUSU Student-Lead Teaching Awards.

We are delighted to congratulate Sociology Lecturer, Dr Mwenza Blell, who has been shortlisted for the Cambridge University Students' Union's Student-Led Teaching Awards, in the category of Postgraduate Supervisor.

Dr Blell is Lecturer in the Sociology of Reproduction and is very new to the department, having started this academic year (moving to Cambridge in September 2016). Dr Blell also coordinates the Sociology of Reproduction pathway of the MPhil in Sociology.

The awards are entirely led by students and exist to recognise outstanding teaching and student support across Cambridge University and its Colleges. They are a unique opportunity for students to recognise the exceptional contribution of teaching and non-teaching staff to their education at Cambridge, allowing students to nominate the staff they believe are deserving of recognition. This year, the CUSU received nearly 600 nominations from students, which were narrowed down by a series of student judging panels.

The awards dinner will be held on the 9th of May and we look forward to hearing the outcome of the awards then. Congratulations and Good Luck to Dr Blell!
