Congratulations to Dr Mónica Moreno Figueroa - shortlisted for category of 'Supporting Students' in the CUSU Student-Lead Teaching Awards.

mmfigueroaWe are delighted to congratulate Sociology Lecturer, Dr Mónica Moreno Figueroa, who has been shortlisted for the Cambridge University Students' Union's Student-Led Teaching Awards, in the category of Supporting Students.

Dr Moreno Figueroa is Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Fellow in Social Sciences at Downing College. Her research has primarily developed around three areas: the lived experience of ‘race’ and racism; feminist theory and the interconnections between beauty, emotions and racism; visual methodologies and applied research collaborations. Dr Moreno Figueroa already holds one of this year's Pilkington Teaching Prizes in recognition of excellence in teaching at the University of Cambridge.

The awards are entirely led by students and exist to recognise outstanding teaching and student support across Cambridge University and its Colleges. They are a unique opportunity for students to recognise the exceptional contribution of teaching and non-teaching staff to their education at Cambridge, allowing students to nominate the staff they believe are deserving of recognition. This year, the CUSU received nearly 600 nominations from students, which were narrowed down by a series of student judging panels.

The awards dinner will be held on the 9th of May and we look forward to hearing the outcome of the awards then. Congratulations and Good Luck to Dr Moreno Figueroa!
