Department of Sociology

The University of Cambridge recently hosted the first Cambridge Postgraduate Open Day. The event was organised by the Graduate Admissions Office in conjunction with the University’s Departments and Colleges. We welcomed over 1,000 prospective students to sites across the city, alongside their parents and supporters.

During the event, prospective students were able to attend presentations on topics such as Applying for Graduate Study and Choosing a College. We also live-streamed an address by Vice-Chancellor Leszek Borysiewicz and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Graham Virgo to sites across the University. Our Departments hosted subject specific lectures, seminars and tours, and the Colleges provided a unique programme of events including Q&A sessions with graduate tutors, lunch with current graduate students and formal dinner and drinks receptions.

Attendees who were seeking information about funding their graduate studies were able to speak to members of various funding bodies at the registration hubs as well as attend a Scholars Symposium which was hosted by current graduate students who are supported by a range of funding bodies.

If you were unable to attend the Postgraduate Open Day 2016 please keep checking back here for details about our next Postgraduate Open Day. You can also contact your Department and College of interest directly as they may host further open days or accommodate an individual visit.
